A downloadable game

"A Taste of F.O.H.G." is a standalone adventure game contained within a book. The gameplay combines elements of a "choose your own" style book and a classic dungeon crawling board game. In this game, players will explore a world presented on grid-based maps that are contained within the book itself. By using the provided print-and-play tokens on the maps, players will solve puzzles, evade traps, and engage in battles against enemies, all while advancing through the adventure by turning to different pages in the book.

The game's greatest strength lies in its accessibility. Starting from page one, players can dive right into the game without the need to read a separate rulebook or lengthy instructions. The design ensures that as players delve deeper into the fictional game world, they gradually learn additional mechanics. This approach guarantees that even newcomers to RPGs,  adventure board games, or choose-your-own books will not feel lost or overwhelmed. However, it's important to note that careful attention has been given to crafting challenges and puzzles that will still engage experienced gamers.

Install instructions

Be sure to print this book. Looking at it on a computer screen does not work.

Print instructions: The book should be printed double sided,  with 2 pages laid out as a single scene.  Printing in color is better than not, but black and white is fine. After the introduction, the pages are numbered so that the left half of the scene is indicated at the top left of the page with the scene number.  The right half is likewise labeled with a scene number on the top right of the page. Each scene should be laid out the same way.  One of the easiest ways to do this is to use a hole punch and a 3 ring binder to keep all the pages together, facing each other, and in order.

⭐Please don’t read ahead! That will spoil surprises.

⭐Here’s what you will need:

Paper and pencil for important notes.

4D6, which means four 6 sided dice (normal dice).  You probably have some in another game, but if not, you can find them almost anywhere.

A handful of pennies or other small coins to use as counters

⭐Print and play tokens

You may use any pieces you have handy to play this book, but these tokens are provided if you don’t have the needed pieces, or would like to make this play closer to how the full game does. Optional Instructions: Remove this page and lightly glue it onto a sheet of stiff  tag-board, like a cereal box.  Cut around the lines to create tokens.   you will still need a handful of coins, so dig in the couch cushions and have your pennies at the ready.
